It’s been open for a few minutes now and I haven’t
seen a crash, so I don’t think it’s the file itself

Comicster just “disappear”?

First thing to try, I guess, would be to uninstall Comicster and
then reinstall. Just in case something got corrupted when your

is it after you select an image and click “OK”? If I
can, I will see if I can reproduce it here. Maybe give me the exact
issue number and perhaps even the image path.

bringing that range up on screen seems to cause Comicster to
crash.

I'm wondering if the file became corrupted in the past and the
problem is only showing up now because I'm looking at those issues.
That might even have caused the original lock-up.

I might try deleting that title entirely and re-entering
them.

Gordontag:help.comicster.net,2011-06-08:Comment/358651192015-01-24T07:31:33Z2015-01-24T07:31:33ZComicster keeps crashing!

Or perhaps deleting any image files that you're pointing to from
those issues. Maybe it's choking trying to load the cover
images.

mabstertag:help.comicster.net,2011-06-08:Comment/358651192015-01-24T07:40:15Z2015-01-24T07:40:16ZComicster keeps crashing!

The odd thing is that unlike the previous version of Comicster,
when changing the name of the cover image file would result in a
'no image' box against that issue, the current version still shows
the cover! I haven't tested this through closing and reopening the
file but certainly it retains the image even before the Properties
field is updated.

But I'll delete the images and start that title again from
scratch. Only 81 issues so shouldn't take that long...
sigh

Gordontag:help.comicster.net,2011-06-08:Comment/358651192015-01-24T07:44:56Z2015-01-24T07:44:56ZComicster keeps crashing!

I think under the hood Windows itself is caching the image.
There's some web caching tech going on in the image loading system.
Still, let's see if deleting the underlying image files helps (or
moving them somewhere else entirely if you don't want to lose
them).

mabstertag:help.comicster.net,2011-06-08:Comment/358651192015-01-24T08:10:12Z2015-01-24T08:10:14ZComicster keeps crashing!

Well, I deleted the title and the image folder and I've
been cautiously navigating around for the last ten minutes or so
and everything seems fine. I can only assume that the file was
corrupted and this never showed up before because I wasn't trying
to access that particular title. Does it crash for you when you
look at that title (Supergirl vol. 4, in the Superman folder under
Ongoing Titles)?

Thanks for your help, Matt - I use Comicster virtually every day
and I'd feel lost without it! Speaking of which, didn't you used to
have a 'Donate' button? I'd like to make a contribution, not just
for the help but for the whole program, which I've been using for
several years.

Gordontag:help.comicster.net,2011-06-08:Comment/358651192015-01-24T08:13:39Z2015-01-24T08:13:39ZComicster keeps crashing!

Mate, it’s my pleasure. It’s not a project I
actively work on anymore so I don’t feel the need to take
donations.

I don’t have a crash when browsing through the Supergirl
Vol 4 issues, so I’m definitely leaning towards a corrupt
image file causing the problem.

Glad I could help! By all means give me a shout if anything else
goes wrong. 😊

Cheers,
